Is the IDM able to pick up Waste Toner alerts from HP devices? I have Waste Toner conditions set for Full and Almost Full and yet no alerts from HP devices. I get them for Konica, Sharp, Canon, Kyocera, Ricoh and just about everybody else but HP.

Am I missing something?

Hello Ralph,

Typically HP devices don't report waste toner, why would be a question for HP.  But alerting for Waste toner will only work for a device if it reports waste toner.  Some HP models do report a Cleaner Unit, which from the MIB description is a Toner Collection Unit, but it is not labeled as Waste Toner, and won't be iterated as Waste Toner, instead it is Cleaner Unit and you would alert against that using the Other Consumables trigger -> Other.

In the case where no cleaner unit is picked up, does the device report on it's local display a message when waste toner is near full or full?  If it does we can use a machine alert to detect when that message is displayed and raise an alert.  To set this up would require a MIB walk of the device when it was displaying the message to determine the data to look for in the alert.

I will try some of your suggestions and report back here if I turn up anything interesting.

Hello Ralph,

If you generate a MIB walk, I would suggest not posting it here, rather send it in by email (zipped up to prevent the case management app from stripping it...) to support@printaudit.com.  I'll suggest walks are not something that should be posted here.
